Soma Puzzle Solutions

soma puzzleWe hope you are enjoying this years Soma Cube puzzle. Having the seven Soma pieces in hand, first try to form the infamous 3x3x3 cube (see photo at right).

The Soma cube is a solid dissection puzzle invented by Piet Hein during a lecture on quantum mechanics conducted by Werner Heisenberg. Seven pieces made out of unit cubes must be assembled into a 3x3x3 cube. The pieces can also be used to make a variety of other interesting 3D shapes.

There are 240 independent ways of making this cube. Aside from cubes, there are thousands of geometric shapes that can be created from the seven simple Soma pieces.
